Pure Polyurea Coating Prevents Corrosion of Wine Making Equipment

Problem: Corrosion Of The Steel Stemmer Crusher and Auger

The wine-making process requires a variety of equipment made of steel that is exposed to harsh environmental conditions. Over time, this exposure leads to corrosion, damaging the equipment and reducing its working life.

Application: Full Coating System – Prep, Prime and Polyurea

The steel is first prepared with an abrasive blast to a near white blast per SSPC-SP 10 to remove any existing corrosion and contaminants and to obtain a 1.5 mil to 3 mil (38 to 70 μ) angular anchor pattern. Once the steel is properly prepared, FCP primer, a two-component urethane primer with outstanding adhesion, is applied to the substrate. Once the primer had cured, a final coating of XS-101 pure polyurea was applied. The combined FCP and XS-101 coating system provides the best protection against corrosion.

The XS-101 polyurea coating provides superior protection against corrosion, UV radiation, abrasion, and chemicals. It is also highly flexible and can withstand extreme temperatures, making it an ideal choice for wine-making equipment. The coating is applied quickly and cures in minutes, allowing the equipment to be put back into service quickly.

Result: Corrosion Free Stemmer Crusher and Auger

By applying XS-101 pure polyurea coating to the steel equipment, the working life of the equipment was extended, and corrosion was prevented. The coating provided superior protection against corrosion and other environmental factors while allowing for quick application and curing so the equipment could be returned to service quickly.
